One was prepared by the Board of Public Welfare and seeks to |amend the law making it a misde- | meanor in the Mistrict to abandon or willfully neglect to provice for the sup- port and meintenance of a wife or minor children in destitute or neces- sitous circumstances, The Commission- ers explained this would call for an in- crease in appropriations of $6,000 to $12,000, but that the Bureau of the Budget reports it is not in conflict with the financial program. The other bill introduced by Mrs. Norton provides for the closing of cer- tain streets and alleys.
