B—1 MURRAY ASSALS BANKING SYSTEM Oklahoma Governor Tells County Fair Gathering in lowa of Injury to Producers. By the Assoclated Press. NEWTON, Iowa, September 24— Gov. W. H. Murray of Oklahoma de- | nounced the tariff, the American bank- ing system and what he described as the “great corporations controlled by corrupt capital and wealth” in a speech yesterday at the Jasper County Fair. ‘The tariff he termed as stifling to American trade, destructive to compe- tition and productive of little revenue, because it is too high to allow trade in any quantity. He advocated lowering the rates and ualizing them on all products and es- | tablishment of reciprocity agreements for trade of agricultural products as well as manufactured goods for foreign products. ‘The banking system should be de- signed to provide loans for the pro- ducer, in order to tide him over pe- riods of poor business or crops, he said. “Alfalfa Bill” urged his listeners to “yote for the man who can comprehend your troubles,” not for the candidate who is a lodge brother, a fellow church member or a neighbor. “The American people have been vot- ing for geography, the poorest quality a man can possess” Murray declared. “The American people should vote for the principle.” !
