SO Miss Evelyn L. Bowie And Mr. Thomas Knight Wed at Alexandria Other Marriages of Interest Take Place in Nearby! Virginia Town. The marriage of Miss Evelyn Louise Bowie, daugbter of Mrs. Josephine A. Bowie, to Mr. Thomas H. Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knight took place Saturday evening, June 29, in the First Baptist Church, the pastor, the Rev. Pierce S. Ellis, officiating. The | bride was givenu in-marriage by her mother and wore a gown of powder blue, a transparent blue hat and carried a cluster of sweetheart rcses and valley liles. The only attendant was Mrs. Pauline Brown Rodgers, who wore a gown of pink flowered chiffon with a pink hat and carried pink roses. Mr. Joseph Rodgers was best man for Mr. Knight, and the ushers were Mr. George Peyton, Mr. Preston Lawhorne, Mr. Lawrence Fair and Mr. Arnold Groves. Following the ceremony there was a reception in the home of the bride's mother and later Mr. and Mrs. Knight left for a Northern wegding trip, the latter wearing a green and white en semble and a green straw hat. They will live in Alexandria. Miss Lauramay Peverell, daughter of Mrs. James G. Peverell and the late Mr. Peverell, and Mr. Jack Alton Sul- livan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Sullivan, were married Saturday after- noon, June 20, in the Southern Metho dist Church. The Rev. D. L. Snyder, the pastor, officiated. The bride was escortcd by her uncle, Mr. Arthur Mit- chell of Washington, and wore a gown of pale pink chiffon and a pink hat. She wore long lade mitts and ca: an old-fashioned bouquet of pink ro: buds and blue delphinium. Miss Anita Noble was the maid of honor aud wore & gown of powder blue c blue picture hat and long blue lace mitts. Her flowers were cream color roses. Mr. Brent Page of Washington was best man. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the home of the bride's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan are spending their honeymoon in Atlantic City and will make their home in Alexandria. The home of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. White was the scene Saturday after- noon, June 20, of the marriage of their daughter, Virginia Albert, to Mr. Carlyle Boguess, son of Mrs. R. L. Boguess, the Rev. D. L. Snyder officiating. The drawing rcoms were decorated with tall palms, ferns and quantities of Summer flowe! The bride was given in mar- riage by her father and wore a gown of white lace over white silk. The skirt vas long and full and had a sash of the white satin. Her hat was white and she wore white lace mitts and carrjed an arm bouquet of bride roses. Miss Charlotte Bowman White, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a gown of yellow net, a_ transparent yel- low hat and yellow lace mitts. She carried a cluster of pink roses. Mr. John Abraham was Mr. Boguess' best man. At the reception which followed, Mrs. White, mother of the bride, wear- ing a gown of black chiffon and a corsage of pink roses, and Mrs. Boguess, the bridegroom’s mother, wearing a gown of black silk and a black hat, assisted in receiving. Cristobal for their home in Balboa, Canal Zone, Panama. Mrs. Engelkee and her son, Howard, have been living here for a year and Mr. Engelkee joined them for a few weeks.
