BATTLESHIP ARKANSAS EN ROUTE TO COPEN- HAGEN, Denmark, June 16.—The bat- tleship Wyoming today was towing the - disabled ~Arctic submarine Nautilus through a heavy rainstorm and fog to- ward Queenstown, Ireland, where the undersea craft will put in for repairs. The Nautilus, in which Sir Hubert ‘Wilkins hopes to reach the North Pole, became disabled Sunday. Messages in- tercepted between the craft and the ‘Wyoming today said the engines were still disabled, and that the battleship was encountering difficulty in towing the submarine, its steaming speed being slowed by heavy weather. Midshipmen from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, on the annual training cruise, braved a driving rainstorm to sight the submarine from the decks of the warships. The most interested was Midshipman Danenhower, son of Comdr. Danenhower, captain of the Nautilus. Intercepted messages said the crew s Wwas all well and sealed inside the sub- marine, due to heavy seas washing decks. The crew uses the periscope to keep sight of the Wycming. The battle- =hip keeps scarchlights on the sub- marine throughout the nights.
