June 16.—Among the 28 persons against whom indictments were returned yesterday by the grand jury were ‘Lewis Finks and Carl McIntosh, Fairfax County policemen. Both were indicted on charges of mayhem, as a result of the shocting in Arlington County of Lerty Holsinger of ‘Washington. The shooting occurred six_weeks ago on the rcad between Chain Bi and the Fairfax County line, when two officers allegedly oached the car in ‘which Holsinger and & woman col n- fon were m'g and - attem) to search the car. The following prohibition law cases ‘were disposed of yesterday: Raymond Jackson, fined ‘$90.40 and given a suspended sentence of one month in jail; Russell B. FRANCONIA, Va, June 16—A woman was burned and a store de- stroyed here last night when lightning struck the business establishment and residence of Miss Phoebe Gillingham. Damage was estimated at $20,000. Miss Gillingham, who is about 55 years old, was burned about the arms and knees when she re-entered the burntng bullding in an effort to save some of her belongings. ISSUE NEW MEDALS Navy Awards to Small Arms Ex- perts Changed. Proficiency in the of small arms in the Navy will be rewarded by a new type of medal, the Navy Department announced today in explaining that this will replace the silver sharpshooters’ and expert rifilemen’s badge now issued. ‘The designation of the new medals will be the expert rifiemen’s medal and the expert pistolshot's medal. They will be of bronze, suspended from a navy blue ribbon, with pin stripes of green, three for the expert rifiemen and two for the pistol shots. The department said that ribbon bars to be worn in lace of the medals will conform to the ars of other medals awarded.
