Howard, head of the Bureau of Ento- mology in the Department of Agricul- ture, Washington, was awarded the 1931 Capper Gold Medal and $5,000 to- day for distinguished service to Ameri- fean_agriculture. Now—A Finger Wave Conviction in Los Angeles Is Re- versed by Higher Court. LOS ANGELES, June 12 (#).—The appellate department of the Superior Court reversed yesterday the conviction of Richard M. Cannon, son of Bishop James Cannon, jr., on a charge of vio- lation of the State wage law. ‘The case, tried in a Justice of the Peace Court, at Pasadena in February, involved a wage claim of $33.30 by a teacher of the El Monte Military Aca emy. The appellate department said the elements of the alleged offense were not sufficiently proved.
