George Shepherd Brock, promin lawyer and lifelong resident of this city. died here last night of a cerebral/ hemorrhage. Mr. Brock was the son of the late Maj. Willlam G. Brock, at one time lupermtendent of police in the National | Capital. For 47 years Mr. Brock was assoclated with the firm of Munn & Co., patent lawyers, and was in charge of its research department for many years. He was a recognized authority on foreign patent law and was a specialist in. Ger- man chemical infringement cases. He was vice president and treasurer of the Hoover Bros. Sporting Goods Co., 1519 Wisconsin avenue. An ardent tennis fan, Mr. Hoover had game. He held several patents on de- | velopments in silk racquet strings and | the company, which he operated with his brother, Irwin C. Hoover, also man- ufactured synthetic strings of silk for musical instruments. Mr. Hoover formerly was connected with Spalding’s, but in 1920 left that firm to operate a g goods store on Fourteenth street. His experiments with silk strings began in 1924 and in 1927 he sold his retail store to William | O. Shreve and associates and moved to 1519 Wisconsin avenue, where the firm began a large-scale manufacture of silk | strings. It became the second largest manufacturer of these strings in the United States. Mr. Hoover was a lifelong resident of Washington and son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Hoover of 150 Rhode lsland avenue. Besides his parents, he is sur- vived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie Eu- enia Hoover: his brother and a son, rt J. Hoover, 4 years old.
