GERMAK PROMISES EFFICIENT CABINET Chicago Mayor Says He Wil Name Men Outside of Party, if Necessary. By the Associated Press, CHICAGO, April 11.—Mayor Anton J. Cermak, Democrat, today was seeking a cabinet composed of men in whom, he said, the public has confidence, de- claring he would go outside of his party, 1f necessary, to get them. “I told the ward committeemen,” he sald, “that they must offer outstanding and efficient men for cabinet positions, and if they do not I will go outside of | | the party to pick men in whom the public has confidence. I received the support of the independent voters and they must be satisfied with the appoint- ments I make.” At the same time the Mayor said he might appoint a Citizens' Commission to give him advice concerning the Police Department, adding that he in- tended to show the police that promo- tions would be made for efficiency and “not through politics.” Having dicmissed nearly 3,000 tem- porary city employes appointed during the administration of Willlam Hale Thompson, Republican, Chicago’s new Mayor planned today or tonight for a vacation which, he said, he would spend “in solitude.” His destination was un- announced, but one report had it that | he would go to Biloxi, Miss, | The complete personnel of Mayor | Cermak’s cabinet will not be announced until his formal inauguration April 22.
