NEW YORK, January 9.—Lacking & child of her own, Mrs. Agnes Schiron, 19 years old and a wife of three years, kidnaped a 6-weeks-old baby girl in an effort to regain her husband's affec- tion. So she told police yesterday when they traced the missing daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rotunda to her father's home and arrested her on a charge of abduction. Mrs. Schiron took the infent Tuesday by posing as a Salvation Army relief worker, and a city-wide search had been in progress since “Please don't arrest me.” she said, “I didn't do the baby any harm. I love babies and can't have any of my own.” True enough, the baby was found sleeping soundly in a new outfit of | clothes and a new crib. bought espe- cially for her. She was returned un-| harmed to her parents, but they lodgea the charge against her abductress. Mrs. Schiron and her husband Michael had been separated for some time, the wife said, because of her childlessness. Thinking to eflect a reconciliation. she summoned him after the kidnaping and presented the child as her own. The coming of the police disrupted one reunion but created an- other.
