FINANCIAL. -GURB SHARES GAIN IN BIGGER MARKET Volume Increases as Majority of List Heads Up- i ward. BY JOHN A. CRONE. Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, December 30.—On vol- ume somewhat above that of Monday today's Curb Market advanced irreg- ularly. Much of the heavy load of tax selling seemed to have been lifted and while in a few cases issues touched new lows, the majority of the list advanced. ‘There was no great amount of spec- ulative interest and this accounted for the soft spots where selling persisted. Scme of the buying was attributable to short covering in advance of the holi- days and to dealers’ purchases for Jan- uary 1 reinvestment demand. Money at the curb post renewed at 412 per cent, compared with 3 per cent on Monday. T HE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D.
