- ARUINGTON CLUBS | MOVETO D POR Monarchs to Entertain Chil- dren—Sororities to Give Benefit Dance. By & Staft Correspondent of The Star. CLARENDON, Va. December 12.— The general move in the county to pro- vide fuds for the care of the needy during the Christmas period and after- ward was given added impetus yester- day by announcements from the Mon- arch Club and all of the sorcrities in the ]:ounly that they would join in this work. At the Monarch Club meeting it was voted to hold an entertainment for poor children at a place and date to be set later and at which toys and other ifts will be given to the children and gnskem of food to needy families. Sororities Plan Dance. ‘The three sororities in the county, Chi Sigma, Gamma Delta Sigma and Chi Delta Gamma, have arranged to hold a dance on the night of December 20 at Windsor Arms, on Glebe road. ‘The proceeds will be turned over to the ! board of public welfare, A committee, headed by Mrs. H. Bruce Green, chairman, has already issued tickets for this affair and has sent 46 letters to business organizations asking their support. Mrs. Mae E. Jacobs, superintendent of public welfare, will be the guest of honor. According to Mrs. Green, the entire eeds from the sale of tickets and any contributions received will go to the relief of the poor, since the so- rorities will stand all expenses involved. Monarch Officers Elected. At yesterday’s meeting of the Mon- arch Club the following newly elected officers were installed: Rlbert H. Cohen, president; Dexter §. Hussey, first vice president; Dr. Ernest R. Hagan, second vice president; Walter U. Varney, treasurer; Joseph C. An- derson, secretary, and Dr. C. R. Boy- land, sergeant-at-arms.
