Mr. Connor began work for the com- pany when a boy, starting in as a tele- aph operator in 1873. Raymond Sauter, 39-year-old broker, of 3312 Quesada place, was dead today, & suicide, while George Roney, 40 years old, of 3940 Livingston street, was re- ported as being injured seriously at Georgetown University Hospital, the victim of a police car which struck him yesterday afternoon while carrying po- licemen to investigate Sauter's death in the gas-filled kitchen of the Sauter home. Roney, a watchmaker, was struck at Connecticut avenue and Livingston street. The car was being driven by Pvt. Arthur H. Gelhar. Gelhar's car passed a halted street car from which Roney had alighted. He said he did not see Roney until too late to avoid the accident. Gelhar sent the injured man to the hospital. Roney, hospital attendants sald, received a fractured collarbone, severe bruises and cuts and internal hurts. Fire rescue squad members worked over Sauter for a considerable time be- fore he was fimnounccd dead.
