PRODUCT SURPLUS MAY BE BARTERED Officials Consider Interna- " tional Exchange of Over- supplies.’ By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, October 3.—A Wash- ington dispatch to the New York Times says Federal officials are giving serious consideration to projects for the inter- national barter of products of which there are embarrassing surpluses in many countries. The dispatch also says some manu- facturers of agricultural have begun accepting wheat from farmers in lieu of cash. No connection is seen between the action of the farm machinery manu- facturers and the proposals for inter- national barter. The suggestions for exchange of goods internationally are #aid to have come from foreign sources. One such proposal is credited to pri- vate British interests for the exchange of rubber for cotton. Another is from Japan, suggesting the exchange of silk for cotton. The plln of farm implement com- panies accepting wheat in lieu of cash is similar to that adopted by the In- ternational Harvester when it took corn at & price about cents above the market in payment !ar Mhlmry U.
