BROWN WILL MAKE AIRDEBUT TONIGHT Postmaster General to Tell of Department’s Problems in Forum, Postmaster Gieneral Walter ¥. Brown will make his radio debut tonight with an address on problems of the postal service in the Nuunml Radio Forum, arranged by The Washington Star and broadcast over the ecoast-to- it net- work of the Columbia Broadcasting Bystem. The program, in which Mr. Brown will emphasize development of the air mall and oceanic mail routes, will be heard locally from station ‘WMAL. Probably no member of the Pre dent’s cabinet has made fewer public utterances than has Mr. Brown since taking over administration of the Post Office Department. With Mr. Brown's debut as a speaker in the Forum, every member of the President’s cabinet will have taken part in this series which has become an institution for acquainting the people of the Nation with the af- fairs of their Government. Johnny Marvin, popular vaudeville and radio entertainer, will be a feature of the R. C. A. hour presented locally through WRC. Nathaniel Shilkret's Orchestra will provide a half hour of lively dance numbers, including “Get Happy,” “Dancing With Tears in My Eyes,” “Minnie ,the Mermaid” and Today on HE EVENING S the Radio (ARl time p.m., unless otherwise indicated.) Product of Company’s Laboratories Made Available to Receiving Set Licensees. ‘The long-locked laboratory doors of the Radio Corporation of America and its associated companies are now thrown open to the radio industry so it may more effectively participate in the de- velopment of the radio art. Patents and processes for television and hitherto exclusive patents for the super-heterodyne receiving set circuit, as well as other devices for electrical entertainment in_the home, are made available by the R. C. A. to its 30-odd recelving set licensees. This enlarge- ment.of license is viewed as one of the most important industrial developments in radio in recent months. For the use of certain of the R. C. A, atents these receiving set manufac- ures pay a mya]tv of 7', per cent of thelr receipts. Station WJZ, owned hy the Radlo Corporation eof America and operated by the National Broadeasting Co., has applied to the Federal Radio Commis- sion for a permit to replace the present equipment of that station with more modern apparatus. No increase in power was requested. The transmitter will be a type 50-8-ROA with 50-kilo- wat capacity, but will operate on 30 kilowatts, which WJZ has used for several years. KYA REBUILDING Equipment of Old San Francisco Station Junked.
