LOEB| Wife of Rabbi Buried in Ohev Sholom Cemetery, War Mothers Attending. Impressive funeral services for Mrs, Gertrude Loeb, wife of Rabbi J. T. Loeb of the Ohev Sholom Congregation, were held in the Danzansky funeral parlors, 3501 Fourteenth street, yesterday aft- ernoon, with leading Washington rabbis officiating. Interment was in the Ohev Sholom Congregation Cemetery, where the Dis- triet of Columbia branch of the Ameri- can War Mothers attended in a body and placed a wreath on the grave. Flag ceremonies were conducted at the grave by the Costello Post of the Ameri- can Legion, which also furnished a bodyguard at the services. Burial was beside Dr. and Mrs, Loeb's son, the late Joseph W. Loeb, World War vet- eran. Among the officiating rabbis were Rabbi A. Volkman, Rabbi George Sil- verstone, Rabbi M. A. Horwitz, Rabbi Jacob A. Dubrof and Rabbi Abram Simon. ‘The crowd attending the services at the funeral parlors was so large that all could not get in the chapel at the same time. A line was formed and all marched past the casket before the body was taken to the cemetery. Hun- dreds, representing many leaders of the Jewish faith, were in attendance at the services at the grave. Rabbi Loeb made a brief response to sympathy expressed in behalf of the American Legion. Mrs. Loeb, who was 63 years old, died early Saturday night after a short illness. MONUMENTS for Jou intpes Shiee MatoristseBest W Markers—Letter CII“III WASHINGTON GRANITE MONUMENTAL CO., Inc. WM. SWANN, JURY TO HEAR SWANN DEATH GASE Coroner’s Jury Finds Stern| Company Did Not Ask Elevator Inspection. Following testimony that the Stern Co., store fixtures manufacturers, at 120 Q street northeast, had failed to re- quest elevator inspection from the Dis- trict, & coroner’s jury, probing the death of Fire Capt. Harry Woodburn Swann, who was fatally hurt in the company's_elevator shaft a week ago, certified that the case be referred to the grand jury. Capt. Swann died at Emergency Hos- pital early yesterday from injuries re- ceived when he fell 25 feet down an elevator shaft at the Stern establish- ment. Joseph M. Brown, chief elevator in- spector in the District, first took the stand. It was believed that Carl Gustaf Ekman, leader of the Popular-Liberals, and a former premier, will be called to form the new cabinet. The Conservative party had only 73 members in the second chamber of the Riksdag, out of a total of 230. Another important dispute revolved around the Bank of Agriculture. Capt. Swann was serving as acting first battalion chief when injured. His spine and hip were fractured and he received numerous cuts and bruises and internal injuries. His wife was at his bedside when he died. Capt. Swann, a native of Leonard- town, Md., was 49 years old, He was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital prior to July 1, 1905, when he was ap- pointed to a position in the Fire De- partment, and during his 25 years’ con- nection with the department he per- formed active service at many of the more disastrous fires. He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Nellie, 15 years old. He was a member of St. John's Lodge, F. A. A. M., and resided at 1604 Otis street northeast. An inquest was ordered today. Fire Chief George 8. Watson gave in- structions today that six pallbearers, numbering old friends of Capt. Swann, be designated to act at his funeral Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his residence. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ‘The following will act as pallbearers: Deputy Chief P. W. Nicholson, Capt. L. L. Woolard of No. 2 Engine Company, Capt. J. D. Leeman of the repair shop, Lieut. M. H. Sutton of No. 7 Engine Company, Sergt. J. C. Lacey of No. 8 Engine Company and Pvt. A. H. John- son of No. 7 Engine Company. Chief Watson, xpenklnz of him today, sald that Swann was “one of the finest men in the wholeé department.” Machioness Dies in Madrid.
