Field’s Old Home In Denver Made Branch Library By thé Associated Press. DENVER, Colo., June 2.—The old home of Eugene Field, author and poet, is to be moved to one of Denver's city parks this Sum- mer for use as & new branch of the public library. A move by Joseph G. Brown, close friend of Field's, to have the home made a permanent public memorial falled, but Mrs. J. J, Brown, Denver society matron, purchased the - residence at Brown's instance and offered it to the city. ‘The new branch probably will be known as the Eugene Field Memorial Library, and one corner will be reserved for a collection of articles used by Field when he lived in Denver. iy HINDENBURG CHEERED German President Given Ovation at Hoppegarten Horse Race. BERLIN, June 2.—Return of German soldiers’ identification tags by a num- ber of American World War veterans has awakened warm appreciation in Germany; due to the fact that tens of thousands of Germans are still without word of their relatives’ fate in the war. Arrival of & number of the tags has roused hope that the movement may become general. The tags, collected as souvenirs, possioly will end the suspense of many familles. Germans have been especially gratified by the arrival of such identification marks during the pilgrimage of American Gold Star Mothers to their sons’ graves in France, for the pilgrimage has awakened many poignant memories.
