Py the Associated Press. by LONDON, June 2.—Fresh from a tri- umphant tour of the principal conti- nental capitals, Arturo Toscanini and the musicians of the New York Phil- harmonic Symphony came to the royal Albert Hall here yesterday to be wel- comed and acclaimed as musical con- querors by royalty and a brilliant audi- | ence of fully 10,000 ple. King George for the first time since his recent rheumatic attack, left Buck- ingham palace to hear the famous American orchestra, and, with Queen Mary and several other members of the royal family, sat in the royal box throughout the entire concert, and gave all evidence of enjoying every minute of it. Queen Mary frequently put up her opera glasses to observe the musicians and their leader, while Sir Henry Wood, the noted British conductor, who sat in the boxes with George Bernard Shaw and other widely known person- alities in the musical and literary world, only interrupted his profound sttention to applaud as each piece was completed. King George was also a deeply inter- ested listener, and, with the queen, ap- plauded as heartily as anyone else in the audience. ‘The end of the concert was received by a tremendous ovation, women waving handkerchiefs and programs, and the hall resounding to cries of “Bravo” and continuous clapping. il oy A SUICIDES AFTER MURDER Farm Tenant Enraged Because Owner Ordered Him to Vacate.
