ON PLOT CHARGES Recent Dominican Candidate for President Accused of Planning Revolution. By the Associated Press. SANTO DOMINGO CITY, Domini- can Republic, May 19.—Federico Ve- lasquez, recently candidate for the presidency of the Dominican Republic on the Allanza ticket, was arrested at his home last might by & detachment of 20 soldiers. He was incarcerated in the old fortress. The soldiers were also loooking for Angel Morales, vice presidential candi- date of the Allanza and former Do- minican Minister to Washington. It was reported last night that the arrests had been ordered by Gen. Tru- fillo after letters showing Valesquez and Morales were fomenting a revolu- tion had been intercepted. Both Valesquez and Morales with- drew from the electoral contest before the balloting began, May 16. Rafael Trujillo, commander of the army, and | Gen. Rafael Estrella Urena, government | party candidates, were consequently un- opposed and were elected, respectively, President and Vice President. Sentries were posted on the streets leading to the American legation. They were apparently under orders to pre- vent Morales and Martin Mora, an- other Allancista leader, from taking refuge in the legation. Both Valesquez and Mora held cabi- net offices under the resigned President Horaclo Vasquez, who was forced out of office by &8 movement led by Gen. Trujillo and Gen. Estrella Urena.
