Vale, 75 years old, a resi- dent of Washington for more than 50 years and former superintendent of the stamp vault of the Internal Revenue Bureau, died yesterday at Garfleld Hos- pital after a short iliness. Mr. Vale, the son of the late Judge L. W. Vale, publisher of the old Wash- ington_Chronicle, came to Washington from Ohio at an early age. He was retired from the Government service five years ago. Before his retirement he was & first tieutenant in the National Guard and the National Rifles. As & member of the National Rifle team he received awards for marksmanship in several national competitions. He resided at 1610 Monroe street. He is survived by a brother, Henry A. Vale of Newport, R. I; two sisters, Miss Louise M. Vale and Mrs. Owen K. Truitt of Washington, and a cousin, Miss Grace Vale, also of Washington.
