T of suffrage for the people of the District of Columbia, 2 The resolution was prepared by the executive committee of the federation and offered to the meeting by Harry A. Fellows, chairman. ‘The text of the resolution follows: “Whereas the residents of the District of Columbia have been denied the right of suffrage and are without representa- tion in the Congress of the United States and in the electoral college; and “Whereas Congress is without the power to grant to the people of the Dis- trict of Columbia those privileges of free citizenship; and “Whereas a resolution is now pend- ing in Congress to amend the Consti- n:‘ndmn and grant Congress this power; . & “Whereas it is the opinion of the Ar- lington County Civic Federation that the condition in which the people of the District of Columbia now find themselves is Tepugnant to the prinei- mei for which our forefathers contended the war with England; “Now, therefore, be it resolved, That Children Offered Buttons for Study In Saving Dogwood Gratifying childish pride in wearing special buttons of merit, the Wildflower Preservation So- clety is giving to each child in the public schools who receives instruction this Spring in preser- vation of the flowering d a little button with a picture of a single dogwood flower, in colors. SANTA CRUZ, Calif, May 7.—A resolution adopted by the Santa Cruz Chapter of the Daughters of the Amer- ican Revolution protesting against the attitude of the National D. A. R. in op- posing American participation in the ‘World Court was forwarded today to the parent organization and all other chapters in the United States. The resolution, adopted last night, criticized the attitude of the D. A. R. as “in a high degree militaristic and cpposed to that world consciousness which this chapter feels can alone bring about security and lasting peace.” A resolution disapproving rolmul activity by the D.
