FINANCIADL CURB TRADING DULL WITH EASIER TONE Prices Recede From Opening Quotations—Utilities Are Active. BY JOHN A. CRONE. Bpecial Dispatch to The Sta: NEW YORK, May 7.—After a some- What higher and active opening, the curb market today turned dull and prices drifted down from the high levels established at the opening. The list presented an irregular appearance, with stocks not moving at all widely. except in cases where some new development affected the market. After the initial burst of buying, when there were a number of 5,000 to 10,000 share lots, demand fell oif ana the mar- ket quieted down. Electric Bond & Share, after opening at 99%, up %, on & 8400 block, sold below its previous close for a fractional loss. American Superpower acted simi- larly. Niagara-Hudson Power was off despite the announcement of purchase of Bontral of the Union Bag & Paper Pa'er ration, which owns .three plants on the Upper Hud- In the forenoon the public utilities yevealed no trend. Associated Gas & Electric, American & Forelgn Power warrants, Central States Electric and United Light & Power “A" all had small declines, while Electrfc Power & Light options, American Gas & Electric, Bra- zilian Traction and Eastern States Power “B” had small advances.
