Memorial Presbyterian Church cele- brating the tenth anniversary of the union of the Gunton-Temple and Gur- ley Memorial Churches and also the tenth anniversary of the pastorate of | Rev. Then he went to Princeton to complete his last two ars of training. Upon graduation in 1911, he was i Yicensed and ordained by the Brooklyn - Presbytery and then came to Washing- ton to be the assistant pastor in the +Ghurch of the Covenant, of which Dr. i Charles Wood was the pastor. He: re- . mained ‘there about two and a half yenr- and in 1914 was called to the torate of the Gurley Memorial Pres- yyterian Church of ~this city, this ehurch being a memorial to Dr. Gurley, who was President Lincoln’s pastor in the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church. The Gurley congregation, im- ~mediately after calling the pastor, ferected & new building at Fourteenth imnd Meridian streets, and 500 members were received during the first six years iof Mr. Braskamp's pastorate. The con- : gregation outgrew their building and : plans were made fo build a larger au- ditorium.
