Members of the Garden Club of Alex- andria are officiating as hostesses and guides at:these places under the auspices of the Garden Club of Virginia. While not as well known as the other two, Rippon Lodge, the Colonial home of Col. ‘Thomas Blackburn, is rich in historic interest. Two of the colonel's daughters married Washingtons and each in turn was mistress of Mount Vernon. The present owner, Mr. Wade Hampton Ellis, & collateral descendant of Col. Black- burn, has restored the house to its original appearance and the spacious lawns present same restful beauty they did 200 or more more years ago.
