F. R.” Celebrates Ex- traordinary Friendship. == 8ix decades of friendship on the part of Washington “boys” and those former- ly residing here were celebrated last Thursday evening at the fifty-ninth an- nual reunion of the “K. F. R.” Society, which was organized here in 1871, the meaning of whose title to this day re- mains a secret safely locked in the minds of the members themselves. Maj. Gist Blalr, its president, enter- tained at dinner those of the 22 living members who were able to attend, as he has done at two preceding reunions. ‘The residence of Mr. Blair, who is a son of Montgomery Blair, Postmaster Gen- eral under President Lincoln, a veritable museum of objects of historical interest, ‘was well known to the guests when they were boys. ‘There were no formalities. only happy talks of the doings of past and particu- larly of long-ago years, tinged by sor- rowful and affectionate mention of Dr. Middleton F. Cuthbert of this city, who ‘was elected in 1879 and who died during the past year. Unusual Boys' Club. Most boys' clubs have a short and tumultuous existence. Here is one ‘which has persisted for nearly 60 years and for nearly 40 years with the same membership, save the inevitable loss by death. Annually the surviving members gather and draw still closer the bonds Delivers This Wonderful Colotura Majestic Radio Model No. 93 No extra charges for i Convenient Deferred Y Payments b formed on the basis of boyish friend- ship. The club in its first years met in many places and inaugurated many ac- tivities, not the least of which was de- bating. When the members grew into manhood, because many of them lived in the same town, they kept up contact with one another and with those who had moved away and today, when hairs are gray and numbers scant, the mystic letters “K. F. R.” bind them, if any- thing, more closely. In 1921 its semi-centennial, a special celebration, was held in the National Capital and on that occasion the great majority of the 39 living members made special effort to attend. Another year will witness its sixtieth anniversary and doubtless this reunion also will be out of the ordinary. Those at Meeting. ‘Those present last Thursday were Anthony C. Addison, Comdr.
