HARVARD STUDENT | |[From the Fro CONNITS SUEDE Dudley Davis, Scion of Rich New York Family, Leaps to Death. S7 the Assoclated Press. NEW YORK, April 14—The body of Dudley Davis, jr., 20-year-old Harvard Junior and member of a wealthy New ‘York family, was found early yesterday beneath an open window of his parents’ sixth-floor Park avenue apartment. The youth’s father, Maj. Dudley Davis, life insurance attorney, expressed the belief the young man had taken his own life. Maj. Davis said he knew of no reason for his son’s act. Young Davis was sharing his room Wwith George Bullock of Worcester, Mass., also a Harvard junior. Bullock said they had supper together at the Harvard Club, where they met several friends. ‘There was some drinking, he said, and they returned to the apartment about 1 am. He said the window was still closed when he went to sleep and he knew nothing of Davis' death until he was awakened by his companion’s moth- er shortly after 3 am. Maj. Davis said his son had been do- ing well in college. He was on the wrestling squad at Harvard and was a aerssbe! of the Hasty Pudding and Fox ubs. Opera Manager's Term Extended. POLAND DEPICTED AS “REBORN” NATION Ambassador Filipowicz, in Address, Describes Country’s Business Progress. ‘The relatively healthy present busi- | ness condition, prosperous future and growing political recognition of Poland, the “reborn” nation, were described to the American people yesterday in a radio address by the Polish Ambassa- dor, Tytus Filipowicz. The address was part of the weekly conclave of nations Sunday afternoon programs of the Co- lumbia Broadcasting System and was heard here through Station WMAL. After sketching the troubled past of his nation, Ambassador Filipowicz con- fidently predicted an era of greater prosperity in the future and concluded with = greeting in the Polish language to the more than three and a half mil- lion people of Polish descent in this country. The diplomat, whose status recently was raised from Minister to that of Ambassador, while a similar honor was conferred on the American representa- tive in Pcland, was introduced to his audience by Senator Henry J.
