Con- nally, jr., and Mr, Jack Connally, and their nephew, Mr. Walter O. Briggs, jr., are passing a short time at the Ward- man Park Hotel on their way from Florida to their home in Detroit, Vermonters and their friends in Washington will gather at the Blue Triangle, Nineteenth and B streets northwest ‘Wednesday evening, April 9, for an old-time sugar party. A recep- tion will be held at 8:15 o'clock followed by a mock radio program. Among those taking part are Judge George Wales, Mr. W. W. Husband, Col. Joseph Fairbanks, Mr. John Cushing, Mr. Charles W. Floyd, Mr. Charles Webb, Mr. Charles Sornborger, Miss Mary Jean Simpson, Mrs, Grace Rdss Cham- berlain and others. Refreshments will be served, after which there will be dancing. Those who have not made reserva- tlons are urged to_communicate with the chairman, Mr. Earl B. Fuller, 1523 Twenty-second street northwest. The subchairmen are: Program, Mr. Free- man; reception, Mr. Frank Hickey, and refreshments, Mrs. Mabel Peirce. Mrs. J. R. Ruyer gave a party for little Helen Rita Duyer Friday after- noon at her residence on Seaton place, the occasion celebrating her fourth birthday anniversary. Games and music were enjoyed, after which refreshments were served from a table elaborately decorated in green and yellow. The guests were Catherine Hessler, Betty Smith, Mary Sims, Jane Propst, Jean Propst, Jean Duyer, Billy Linsenmeyer, Billy Hessler, Billy Loveless, Warren Loveless, Teddy Preston, John Duyer, Edward Duyer, Ray Brockman and Angela Alellio. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Lindesay of London, England, are at the Carlton for several days. The Cairo Hotel will have as its guests for a few days the Birmingham High School senior class of Birming- ham, Mich. Mr. W. S. Toothacker, director of the department of physics and chemistry, will accompany this class, composed of 77 students. They will visit Mount Vernon, Arlington, the ?uhl]c buildings and all places of in- erest. Mr. J. Kenney Miller is in Norfolk for several weeks, at the Hotel Heart o Ghent. Mrs. A. A. Clemons, Washington, D. C., has returned from Bermuda and, with Mr. Clemons, again is at the Hotel Grafton. Mrs. Frank Steele is chairman of the benefit tea-bridge to be held tomorrow afternoon and evening in Pierce Hall, Fifteenth and Harvard streets. The bridge is under the auspices of the ‘Woman's Alliance, Lend-A-Hand So- clety, Layman's League and L'Allegro Club of All Souls’ Unitarian Church. Mrs. U. G. B. Pierce will be hostess at the tea in the afternoon, and Mrs. Ernest Loring will be hostess at the evening party. Mrs. Maurice H. Tatcher is chairman of the committee in charge of the luncheon to be given by the Kentucky D. A. R. Tuesday evening, April 15, at 1 o'clock, in the palm garden of the Mayflower Hotel.
