A suspended sentence was meted out today to Jean Moon, 15-year-old ‘Western High School student, who wes convicted of a reckless drivi charge before Judge Kathryn Sellers in Juvenile Court tdday. The girl was ar- rested by Policeman W. A. Myers of the seventh precinct after the sport roadster she was driving and owned by a boy friend was in collision at Twenty- ninth and M streets with a car operated by Mrs. Annie Briggs of 622 C street northeast. ‘The gir], who is attending Summer classes at the high school, was on the way to her home at Clifton Terrace Apartments, = Fourteenth and Clifton streets, in company with Maxwell Q. Coleman, 25 years old, of 323 Virginia avenue, Clarendon, Va. owner of the car, when the accident occurred. Mrs. Briggs had her 6-month infant in a crib in the back of her machine. Mrs. Briggs was badly shaken by the impact of the collision, but the baby was ap- parently uninjured. Both machines were badly damaged. ‘The girl was brought into court this morning in the custody of her father, John B. Moon, an attorney in the clalms section of the Internal Revenue Bureau. The father explained that to his knowledge the girl,was not in the habit of driving machines in Washing- ton, because of her youth, but was able to operate a machine, having learned to drive while at their Summer place, in Virginia, and at their former home, in North Dakota. ‘The girl was also found guilty oh operating* without & permit. In both cases sentences were suspended and the defendant was warned by Judge Secllers not to operate a machine in the Da- trict of Columbia until she becomes of age.
