PAUL, Minn., July 16.—The Last Man's Club, organize « 46 years ago by 314 members of B Ccupany, 1st Min- nesota Volunteers, wili hold its annual dinner next Sunday; bu~ what once wus a joyous banquet will by this year only a gquiet dinner by three old men. John F. Goff, 86; Peter O. Hall, 91, and Charles Lockwood, 87, are all that are left of the gallant company. This year they are dining at the home of Goff’s daughter, In other days_the dinners were held at the inn in Still- water, Minn., but now the survivors have become too feeble to make the Jjourney there. In the center of the table Sunday night will be the bottle of wine which was obtained at the first gay gather- ing and which is to be used by the last living member to drink a toast to his departead comrades. Two years ago the same three who are to meet next Sunday opened the bottle and drank to the memory of the 311 who have died. The bottle was re- sealed so that the original intention— a last toast by the last man—might be drunk. The dinner is held each year on the anniversary of the battle of Bull Run. Because of distress among miners of Wales who are out of work, charity funds are being raised in other parts of Britain. 39¢c French Marquisette A remarkable value—choice of cream.
