By the Associated Press, LOS ANGELES, June 25.—Mrs, Louls Pantages, wife of Alexander Pantages, theater chaln owner, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Halh of Joe Rokumoto, & Japanesé, in a complaint issued yester- day by the district attorney’s office, Rokumoto was fatally injured June 16 when his motor car and Mrs. Pan- tages’ machine collided. A coroner's Jjury found the Japanese died as the re- sult of the woman's alleged careless driving. She previously had bee; charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony. She has boughi and sold numerous ranches, and now owns thrée and rents three in Missourl, Kansas and Texas, Her holdings total 5,000 acres. Until last year Miss Truskett was employed by various firms in the Kan- sas City stockyards as a cattle buyer. She began in 1903 at $3 a day and was making $400 a month when they ousted her because, she says, she wag a woman. Miss Truskett’s hobbles are ‘writing poeu-y and helping the destitute. She advertised her stockyards business in rhyme. As a sideline she operates two apartments.
