THE PAS, Manitoba, June 6.—Fire- | fighting crews sent by airplane were | battling today to save what remained of the mining settlement of Cranberry Portage, 51 miles north of here After being checked for a time, the flames blazed up again under a strons cast wind and threatened the older sec- tion of the town. i Women and children, made homeless by the fire, were brought here Ahnard‘ a rescue train and were cared for by local residents, Roy Brown, Western Canada Airwas pilot, who took fire fighters in to re- enforce the local crews, said the heat | labove the town was terrific as the | lames leaped from building to building | Second Town is Threatened. Another town of 600 was threatened with destruction by fire at Mile 83, two miles southeast of Flin Flon, where flames, which originated in one of the houses, destroyed 16 homes. Lieut. Col. U. §. Grant, 3d, director of the office, has just let a contract for 200 bales of this new moss, which is termed “peco.” While it has been used abroad for some time, this is the first venture here. | This new vegetable moss will be first used for mixing with compost for rais- ing flowers.and the first shipment is scheduled to arrive within a week or so. Later Mr. Henlock intends to use it | for fertilizer on the lawns, if it proves | a success. If experiments bear out the | wishes of the horticulturists “peco” will be used almost exclusively. The veg- | etable moss is represented as being free | from weeds. Mr. Henlock said the planting of the | beds for the Summer season is now al- | | most completed throughout the city. ——— SHIP TO FLY SATURDAY ‘Will Circle City Dunng\ Flag Day Service. Wuhmglon, Va., Woman Says Words Can Hardly Describe the Value of Miller’s Herb Extract. “I heard and read a lot about this medicine before 1 made up my mind to give it a trial. You see T had been in poor health for a long time, my husband had spent hun- dreds of dollars on medicine for me, and as they had no effect on my condition T hesitated about try- ing something different.” MRS. J. M. SHELTOM “I had been told that an operation was necessary, just the thought of going through with it made me shiver, so 1 said, ‘Well, I woll try one bottle of Miller's Herb Extract,’ and right here I want to say to those who read this statement, that words cannot describe the 'value of this medicine. Before I used it for days at a time I could not get out of bed and I suffered ter- ribly with my stomach, even had it washed out, still I could not get relief from the terrible gas pains and my stomach would swell and bloat terribly, why at times even a glass of water would upset me and cause such cramps that I could hardly stand up. I would have nervous spells, could hardly control myself, and there seemed to be a lump in my throat. I had a great deal of trouble with catarrh and was so badly constipated that I had to be continually taking a strong laxative. But as bad as my condition seemed, this medicine helped me from the very first and T cannot find words to describe the wonderful _improvement the first bottle made, it was wonderful the way the pains in my stomach passed away, bowels began to move regu- lar and from then on I could feel myself improving with ecach day. nerves quieted down, gas no longer formed on the stomach, I began to feel like eating and to my great relief, food I ate caused no bad after effects. I can truthfully say that since taking Miller's Herb Ex- tract I feel like a new woman, never have any of my former trouble and know that I owe my present good health solely to the use of this great medicine.” It is quick results every sufferer wants, and Herb Extract brings re- sults overnight as thousands of statements similar to the above from grateful users indicate. This remarkable preparation _contains herbs, leaves and bark that pro- mote gastric juices that is necessary to regulate bowel action and insures good health, Hundreds are calling daily to see the special representa- tive direct from the Herb Juice Medicine Co., who has established Mahony's).
