A wedding of more than usual interest ‘Washington was that of Miss Annette Alger Bailey and First Lieut. Bayard Livingston Bell, U. §. M. C., which took place Thursday in the Market Square Church at Pittsburgh, the Rev. Richie Smith of the Princeton Theological Seminary officiating, assisted by the Rev. Robert Presbyterian member of the h sions board, uncle of the bride. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Col. Frederick M. Alger of Detroit, and her cousin, Mrs. Harold Boyer of Detroit, was matron of honor. Miss Eleanor Whiteside Bailey, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and the bride’s other attendants included Mrs. Willlam W. Orr, formerly of Wash- ington; Mrs. Frederick Wright of Har- risburg, cousin of the bride; Miss Flaine Pommerer of Detroit, Mrs. Kent C. Darling of Richmond, Mrs. Jerome Remick, jr., and Mrs. Thomas Adamson of Philadelphia. The bride is the daugh- ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Eider Bailey, the latter formerly Miss Fay Alger, daughter of the former Sec- retary of War. Lieut. Bell, who is in command of the Marine guard of the U. 8. 5. Mayflower and an aide at the White House, had 8s his best man Capt. Robert Latane Montague, U. 8. M. C. Lieut. and Mrs. Bell will make their home in Washington after a wedding trip of several weeks. Foland-Shipp Wedding. Charming Home Affair. The marriage of Miss Elizabeth shlpg to Dr. John P. Foland of New Yorl took place Thursday afternoon in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett S, Shipp at 521 Rock Creek Church road. e Rev. Dr. Haw- thorne officiated at 3:30 o'clock in the presence of & small company, and Dr. and Mrs. Foland left immediately after for a wedding trip to Florida and New Orleans. Virginia Society Lists Its Last Ball of Season ‘The last ball of the season to be giv- en by the Soclety of Virginia of the Distriet of Columbia will be held Sat | urday. April 6, at the Willard Hotel. This will be the fourth formal enter- tainment sponsored by the society dur- ing the present social season, the first having been the Thanksgiving ball, on December 13; the second, the Lee- Jackson ball, January 21, and the third, the brilliant colonial cosiume ball, held on Washington’s birthday. Membership in the society is re- stricted to native-born Virginiams and children of native-born Virginians. The president of the soclety is Representa- tive Joseph T.
