NEW YORK, March 11.—Marks, XKaufman, 77, of Towanda, Pa, father: of David E. Kaufman, United States: Minister to Bolivia, died at St. Luke’s Hospital yesterday after an iliness of two weeks. Mr. Kaufman became ill while on a visit with his son, who recently returned from Bolivia. Born in Lithuania, the eldyr Kauf- ‘man came to America as a young man and engaged in mercantile and lumber business. Four other children survive him. They are Morgan S. Kaufman, a New York bankruptcy referee; Joseph Kaufman of Towanda, Mrs. Pa Levey of Niagara Falls, N. Y., and Mrs. Jennie Goldstein of Canton, A brother, Barney Kaufman, also survives. Services will be conducted at a chapel in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., tomorrow and burial will take place in the Kaufman family plot in a cemetery in that city.
