Senator Carter Glass, she said, is in a regular “somersault” when he made a prophecy one year ago that should that party nominate Gov. Smith for President, our party would be swamped. Why blame Herbert Hoover for re- maining silent in the oil scandals? He was not the head of the Republican rty. In Maryland we need a general use-cleaning, which we expect to start, and I hope that the people of Virginia will fall in line. Gov. Smith is responsible for the Injection of the re- liglous issue into the campaign.” W.
