Y., October 19.—While Coast Guard, immigration and customs patrol boats co-operated in the Niagara River last night in an attempt to main- tain a blockade, approximately 25 rum runners, lined up along the Canadian shore, awaited a favorable opportunity to make a dash for the American side and land their illicit cargoes. Their task was a difficult one. Wed- nesday night and yesterday, nine of the craft attempted to run the blockade of the Coast Guard and seven were ;s escaped.
