Mr. Cody discussed a resolution passed by the association board of governors last May providing for the creation of additional local chapters of the asso- ciation to act as clearing houses for the work of organizations dealing in mort- gages in the accurate appraisal of the securities behind the loans. This reso- lution is one of five resolutions made at the same time by the association research committee as a result of a study of the various economic forces that affect the value and stability of the first mfortgage or mortgage bond. Practically the entire program for the three-day sessions of the convention was built around the findings of this committee, of which B. F. This competition will lead in many instances to excessive valuations unless steps are taken to unite these various groups and establish methods and policies on which all interests can meet on common ground,” he said.
