HAMBURG WAR GAS WILL BE DESTROYED Chemical Means to Be Used in Dis- posing of Menace to City. By the Associated Press. HAMBURG, May 24.—On the advice of poison gas experts from all parts of Germany, assembled at police head- quarters here yesterday, it has been decided to destroy the phosgene still remaining in Hamburg by chemical means, rather than by dumping it into the North Sea as had been planned previously. Several new cases of poisoning, some of them serious, were reported to Ham- burg hospitals, and at the Wilhelms- burg Hospital alone there are 84 cases now under treatment. The Hamburg supervising industrial board declared the ?lmsgl‘m‘ to have been manufactured Hamburg and stored in refilled tanks under the strict- st supervision for one year, which was to have been up Soptvmbnr 30, 1928. It was said the “explosion” had been due not to excessive pressure in the tank, but to decay of the solder which held together its seams. VIENNA, May 24 (#).—Existence of large quantities of phosgene, deadly war poison gas, near Vienna, was re- vealed yesterday with petitions by the mayors of outlying towns to the gov- ernment for destruction. ‘The prtl'lons cited 4.000 tanks of IS Friday Furniture Features —at Julius Lansburgh Furniture Company Convenient Deferred Payments Fiber Rocker Closely hand-woven spring- seat Fiber Rocker, with ldose O 00 drop leaves and four chairs. ish in your own color prefetence. inches long, with drawers .$16.75 Couch Hammock Comfortable $8.95 link spring and soft tuft- ed matires Stand. snd canopy extra 5-Piece Unfinished Breakfas Set A mid-week bargain, 5 pieces, table with 3] Fiber Rocker Baronial brown finish.
