The case of Policemen Ralph G Blasey and Robert L. Smith, who are before the Police Trial Board on charges of accepting bribes and col- lecting usurious interest on money, Was continued until some time next week, following the conclusion of the prose- cution's case yesterday afternoon. Two charges against each of the men have been presented to the board by Assistant Corporation Counsel Walter L. Fowler. The first charge alleges that the officers loaned $40 to Olaude Newsom, colored, on October 16 and on October 25 received $50 in payment. This charge is the outcome of a sworn statement_alleged to have been made by the policemen in their own defense when they were tried in Criminal Court No. 1 on a charge of accepting a bribe from Newsom. They were acquitted. A charge alleging that they accepted a bribe of $25 on October 11 from Charles Beale, colored, 1239 First street UIET <AUTOMATIC southeast, was thrown out of court after indictment by the grand jury. The second charge before the trial { board contained three specifications, | alleging that they accepted the bribe from Beale, and again in October took | $25 from Beale, and that in July or August they received $25 from Irvin | West, colored, formerly of 456 First street southwest.
