Some- times there seems to be an epidemic of it; then again we are fairly quiet. Just now we are having as little trouble at have had in the last year or two. ' vs consider, when complaints arc that men have succeeded in sup- pressing the main offenders, or that they are confined. “Counterfeiters are persistent. They repeat their offenses, so that we have as many as seven and elght records of the same man. The penalties for coun- terfeiting are, to my mind, severe enough if imposed by the courts; but there scems to be a disposition to br lenient with offenders in recent years.” Chairman Madden of the committec asked Moran if there was “too much sentimentality about it now?” Moran oplied he did not know u)\{ the leni- | cattle, sheep and swine to provide meat | ency seemed 1o be more prevalent now DETECTIVE SHOOTS MAN IN APARTMENT LOBBY A.
