Greet- ings were drafted and sent to Mrs. Pennell, widow of the first signer of the Christian_Endeavor pledge at Williston Church, Portland, Me., where the first Christian Endeavor Society was formed by Dr. Francis E. Clark, February 2, 1881, and to Mrs. Francis E. Clark, widow of the founder of this great mnovement, which numbers over 4,000,- 000 active members in 80,000 Christian Endeavor Socleties in 100 difTerent countries. Thirty-four new pledges for membership in the alumni were re- ceived. Maj.
