Henry Fick Carl- ton in using Roosevelt as a basis for this program in recognition of his birthday, October 27, has taken little- known aspects of his life before be- eoming sident as the basis for the broadcasting program. Broadway and concert world will unite in the newest Eveready hour program to be broadeast at 9 o'clock. Including the presentation for the first time, over the air or elsewhere, of the two new pieces, the Everyeady pro- gram will be a unique combination of the instrumental and vocal. A new rhapsody will be introduced, entitled “A Study in_Indige and written by C. Maxwell Smith. The new offering is said to be rich in the “blues” and jazz idioms that have marked the work of Gershwin and Grofe, leading composers in this field of musical endeavor. The second new tune to be played will be “Lejter from Dixie,” originally score for the piamo. In addition, on the concert side, this Eveready hour will present a new musical treatment of “Diane,” a concert piece, with a &mall orchestra of six or eight pieces co-operating. Broadway successes in two in- stances will figure in the hour’s en- tertainment. “Just a_Memory,” as sung in “Manhattan Mary,” and a tune from the show "Go?d News” called “The Varsity Drag” will be sung, the first by the entire Eveready group, the Iatter by the Revellers. They also will sing “‘Honolulu Moon.” Virginia Rea will sing the famed coloratura aria, “Caro Nome,” from “Rigoletto.” Other features tonight include the Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra, Torre and Biviano, Club St. Marks Orchestra, Sealy Air Weavers, “Our Govern- ment” by David Lawrence and the “Radio Cavalcade.” Ted Weems and his famous orches- tra, Eileen Lally, “blues” singer, and several other vocal and instrumental artists, will take part in the weekly radio movie club, one of the outstand- ing attractions tonight of WMAL.
