And It's Not a Fish Story, Says — Mississippi Hunters. Correspondence”of The Star. HAZLEHURST, Miss~Hunters 'oF the modern school of Hazlehurt ha’ found something new in the animal life during their rambles through the woods here, . It is a swimming fox. Old-timer hunters shake their heads and say it is a myth. But fox hunters on the Pear] River, including some of the better known men of the com- munity, vouch for the story. They say that a large red fox has repeatedly swam the stream, 250 feet ‘wide, when being pushed closely by the dogs. By getting on the other side of the stream the animal man- ages to evade the dogs. R e POOR CHIGGER SEASON. Cold Spring and Wet Fall Handi- caps Picnic Pests. Correspondence of The Star. COTTONWOOD FALLS, Kans.—If Kansas chiggers could talk, they would doubtless express their opinion in no uncertain terms that the past Summer has been a very poor one for them. Although it is only the middle of Séptember, yet chiggers in this part of the State have practically disap- peared. In fact, there seems to nave been few of them for the past week or 10 days, and the reason is because of the unusually cool weather for the sesson of the year. Because of the rather ‘cool weather late in the Spring, the chiggers did not put in an appearance until about two weeks later than usual, THE DAILY HOROSCOPE . Monday, September 26. Good "and evil planetary aspects contend tomorrow, according to as- trologers, who find the configuration exceedingly disturbing. The earlier hours are much more fortunate than later times in the day, and business should therefore }’t‘ transacted with the greatest celer- y. " Women have rather a promising sign to guide them, and they should be able to succeed in business mat- ters in the morning. ‘Weddings should be fairly lucky, if the marriage ceremony is performed before noon. Much Jove-making may be inspired by this configuration, which is sup- posed 10 cause men to be susceptible but fickle. The new moon of that date is be- lieved to be promising, in that it presages brisk business and increase of commerce, Speculation may be encouraged by the optimistic sway, but it should be avolded, for the stars foretell many daring projects that mean ruin to nvestors. Theaters will prosper and will mul- tiply, it is forecast, and new players will gain fame. Return of respect for romance, which has been predicted, gives prom- ise of new poetic dramas. A London astrologer finds the con- junction of the sun and Mars threat- ening to the United States, as well as to China and Japan. Trade with South America certain- 1y should increase, if the interpreta- tlons of the planetary aspects can ‘be_trusted. Rush of prospectors to Africa and Australia from this country as well as Europe is prophesied. Persons whose birth date it is have the augury of a favorable year. Children born on that day probably “will have unusual charm and mag- netism. gain fame as artists. (Copyrigh .
