A., retired, who died in Walter Reed Hospital Tuesday, were conducted at Calvary Baptist Church, Fletcher, N. C.. this afternoon. Edmund avyLPH KARN President DIAM Born at Columbia, S. C., June 14, 1866, Col. Blake was graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1889 and was assigned to the Artil- lery. He served in the Spanish-Ameri can War and the World War. During the latter he was decorated as an offi- cer of the Legion of Honor for serv- ices as liaison officer with the French army. He was retired in 1922. GORDON Assistant United States Attorneys Act as Pallbearers at Last Rites. Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah L. Gordon, 87 years old, mother of United States Attorney Peyton Gordon, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. H. Frothingham, in Asheville, N. C., Monday, were conducted at Wright's undertaking parlors today at 11 o'clock. Bishop Willlam F. Mec- Dowell of the Methopist Episcopal Church officiated. Interment was in Rock Creek Cemetery. The following assistant United States attorneys were pallbearers: Neil Burkinshaw, Joseph Connolly. George D. Horning, jr.; R. F. Cam- | alier, Charles B. Murray and David A Hart. The son accompanied the body to_this city from Asheville. Mrs. Gordon, the widow of Malcolm G. Gordon, was a native of this city and resided here until going to Ashe- ville about six years ago. Besides her daughter in Asheville and her son in this citv. she leaves a grandson, Comdr. Malcolm Gordon Flarrow, U. 8. N,, stationea on the West Coast. MRS. MILANA DEAD. Paralysis Stroke. Mrs. Mary Milana, 67 years old, of 632 Massachusetts avenue died yes- terday at her home as the result of & | sudden stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Milana had lived in Yrashing- ton for 43 years. She is survived by | three sons, Joseph Milana of New York, Francis Milana of South Bend, Ind. and Salvadore Milana of this city, and a_daughter, Mrs. Catherine Licalzi of Washington. Mrs. Jones was born in Jefferson, Frederick County, Md.. where she spent her girlhood and was married.
