STONE. | At a meeting of the council ufy administration of the District Bank- | ers’ Association late yesterday it was voted to hold the ninth annual con- vention at the Homestead, Springs, Va, from June 8 to 12. | French Lick, Ind., made a strong bid | for the convention, but it was feared that the additional expense and the additional time might keep some members from attending the meet- | ing. Virginia Beach was also con- | sidéred. as a splendid new hotel is to | be opened thgreé this year. W. W. Salmon, president of the General Railway Signal Co., which re- cently took over the selling rights of the products of the Miller Train Con- trol Co., reports that the company’s | business has shown marked expansion in the last three years. In 1926 the company received orders from 33 rail- 47 new interlocking plants having a total or 2,046 levers and for new automatic block 1 installa Orders s in 1926 | complete | engine divisfons. So far this year the Las recelved orders for equipping six more complete engine divisions, Orders for block sigrals have also been most encouraging. The directors have just declared a quar. terly dividend of $1.25 on common and $1.50 on preferred stock, B. & 0. Dividends Total $9,116,596. Out of its 1926 record aet earnings, the Baltimoro and Ohio Rallroad wili pay dividends of $9,116,696 to holders of the common stock. This will be the largest amount pald since 1914, when the stock was previously on a 6 per cent basts, Although it will represent an in- crease of $1,519,328 over the previous year, the company will put back about $17,000,000 into the property from the year’s earnings, or about $6,500,000 more than it did in 1925. Washington stockholders are much pleased with the annual report show- ing that the road earned $17.40 on common stock in 1926. Earnings of $13.20 a share in 1923 were the best previous figures. There was a little more southern sell. ing here, however, particularly by brokers with Eastern belt connections and the market eased after the open- ing, May selling off to 13.53, and Oc- tober to 13.98, by the end of the first hour, or about 6 to 8 points| net lower. No particular news feature was emphasized in connection with the de- cline, but there was talk of a probable falling off in spot demand. Some traders seemed to be anticipating in- creased spot offerings when the time for new crop preparations approaches.
