The first gathering of citi- zens of this community was held November 1, and a week later the oflicers were named. It is planned to affiliate with the Federation of Citizens' Associations, and to meet regularly the first Tuesday in each month. Street improvements, bus service and the planting of trees were dis- cussed as being of major importance to the community. Mrs. J. Robert Cox, chairman of the committee on education and schools, reporting on the condition of the old Tenley School, said that a recommendation will be made to the Board of Education that the building be razed rather than to recommend needed repairs. A request will be made also for the erection of the 16-room addition to the Janney School, which is less than a year o, and, it was said, is already over- crowded, many of the classes being on part time. Ash Removal Discussed. District officials will be urged to arrange a satisfactory schedule for the removal of ashes in Devonshire Downs. H. Wells, president of the New Mexico School of Mines, announced yesterday. New Mexico and Idaho are the only States not represented by stone blocks in the shaft. The New Mexico block, of red sandstone, will be placed in the shaft in February, on the 330-foot level, Senators Jones and Bratton and Representative Morrow of New Mexico having selected the position.
