O. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1926. PARENT-TEACHERS DENYRED"CHARGE National League Declares Talk of Propaganda Entirely False. By the Assoclated Press. NEW YORK. December 8.—Asser- tion that it has in no way aided in the spreading of communistic or un- patriotic propaganda was made yes- terday by the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. The state- ment was issued.in reply to charges made last month at Charlottle, N. C. by speakers at a meeting of the ex- ecutive committee on the North Caro- lina departments of the American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary. WOLF’S Yesterday’s announcement, issued by Mrs. A. H. Reeve, president of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, said: “At the meeting of the North Caro- lina Department of the American Le- glon a statement was made that the publications of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers are ‘tinged with red. and that the organization|, is creating ‘vellow’ citizenship, and t ot it is sending Into schools and colleges speakers whose addresses are ‘pacifistic’ and subversive of patriot- ism and good citizenship. “This statement is absolutely and entirely false and cannot be substan- tiated by any evidence whatever. “The National Congress of Parents and Teachers, an organization num- bering more than 1,000,000, with branches in every State in the Union, is concerned with all problems that relate to the welfare of the child in home, school and community. The principles which guide the organiza- tion are the embodiment of social service, civic virtue and patriotism; it is @ co-operative, non-political, non- sectarian, non-commercial organiza- tion of men and women working to produce American citizens who shall be strong In body, alert in mind and sound in character, capable of per- petuating the best which has been developed in our natlonal life.”” A Special Doctor’s Last . —For Women— “That Positively Corrects Foot Troubles” This last was decided upon by the fore- most foot specialists in this country after years of study and research to find a proper fitting corrective shoe. CHICAGO, December 8.—City em- ployes had no part in a swindle which brought to Chicago’s department of streets $129,000 worth of signs which it did not order and earned a sales- man $17,000 in advance commissions on the fictitious consignment, it was asserted yesterday after an investiga- tion of an order by a salesman named Green, employed by the Rochester Signal Company of Rochester, N. Y. It was declared that the city had not lost by it. The fraud was revealed when officials of ‘the Rochester company e concerned why they had not been paid for the signs, which had been shipped here. L. J. Sorenson, superintendent of signs for the street department, said Green came to him a vear ago and tried to get an order, but that there were no funds available for purchases. Later J. Normoyle, secretary to the street superintendent, was ‘asked by Green for a letterhead of the depart- ment. The letterhead was refused.
