Storer DISAGREE ON OPENING OF CRITTENDEN STREET Property Owners Express Divided Opinion at Hearing Before Commission. A division of opinion as to merits of the plan for opening Crittenden street between Piney Branch road and Sixteenth street developed among property owners in that section at a public hearing conducted by the Com- missioners yesterday as a prelude to their semi-weekly board meeting. Condemnation _ proceedings were started by the Commissioners some time ago to acquire the property nec- essary to open the street. One group of property OWners, headed by Thomas Blagden, who, with his family, dedicated a large portion of the old Blagden estate about 15 vears for the opening of Sixteenth stteet, made a vigorous protes’ against the proposed opening of Crit- tenden street. there is no necessity for the stree and that by opening it the privacy o® the property owners affected ‘would be destroyed. Those who joined with Mr. Eladgen in opposition to the plan were Dr. J. R. Phelps, W. M. Terrell and Mrs. T. W. Stubblefield. The proponents of the street open- ing plan were George E. Walker Henry L. Breuninger and Claude W Owen. They insisted that the prc posed street would be of great benefi' to the residents west of Sixteent! street and provide a_more direct thor oughfare to the Fourteenth strec shopping section.
