Capital Traction’s income fell off showed an increase in operations this during October of this year as com- pared with last year, according to the monthly report filed with the Public Utilities Commission. Operating revenue for October 1926 was $392.046.84, as compared with $401,036.42 for the same month last year, while operating _expenses _in- creased from $258,825.66 last year to $259,817.20 this October. The net in- comé for October 1926 was $75,365.50, as compared with $84,481.99 for Octo- ber a year ago. Gross income was $102,939.22 in October, 1926, as com- pared with $111,201.49 for the same month in 1925 Revenue passengers carried fell off during the same period also, 4,157 to 5,409,375. Bus operations of the company for | the month of October showed a net deficit of $5,881.34, the total receipts amounting to $14,992.15 and total ex- penses to $20,873.49. Washington Gas Reports. The Washington Gas Light Co. also did less business this year than last for the month of October, according to monthly report filed with the Pub- lic Utilities Commission. The statement. of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone’s Co.’s operations for the month of October to the Public Utllities Commission shows telephone operating revenues of $598,172, an in- crease of $29,261 compared with Sep- tember, and telephone operating ex: penses of $418,784, an increase of $17,879 compared with September. Taxes for the month of October amounted to $47,706, an increase of $1,423 compared with September, and other miscellancous expenses amount- ed to $7.813, an increase of $1,522 com- pared with September, leaving a net fncome of $123.869, which is an_in- crease of $8,437 compared with Sep- tember. This statement also shows that new plant and equipment added during the first 10 months of 1926 amounted to $2,809,235.55, while the retirements for the same period amounted to $946, 617.51, making the net additions for the 10-month period $1,862,618.04.
