Funeral services for Sanford N. Whitwell, controller of the Wash- ington Gas Light Co., who died Mon- day of pneumonia at his residence, the Portdmouth Apartments, were conducted there this afternoon by Rev. Newton Middleton of Norfolk, Va., a nephew. Interment took place in Rock Creek Cemetery. The following associates of Mr. ‘Whitwell acted as pallbearers: C. Clay Bayly, Richard A. Ennis, Thomas B.
