The culmination of the Western Conference foot ball season will be celebrated here, as in past years, with an annual “round-up” of alumni from the Ten” .universities of the Aiicdle - est, scheduled for the ev: ning of Saturday, November 20, at the ‘Washington Hotel. This announce- ment, anticipated by the many local alumni of those famous schools, was ‘Women's University Club of an organ- izing committee appointed to form- ulate plans. The conference victor will be duly acclaimed on this oc- casfon. This will be the sixth annual affair of its kind, the custom having started in 1920 with a small and informal gathering at the Untversity Club, It has grown until now it is one of the Capital's unique events. It takes a large ballroom to accommodate the crowd which gathers to cheer ali the universities from which they come. Norman Damon, Michigan, was elected chairman of the committee sponsoring the 1926 event, while Miss Ruth Bloodgood of Northwestern was elected secretary-treasurer. ‘The “Big Ten" foot ball season this year is marked by an unusual spec- tacle—namely home-and-home games Pplayed between two colleges in_the Hotel Gordon “T916 16th St. N.W. Amendment Is Designed to Safe- guard Public Here. An amendment to the District’s gas fitting regulations designed to prevent ‘‘consciénceless” gas fitters from lead- ing flue pipes from gas hot-water heat- efs into blank walls was adopted yes- terday by the Commissioners. The change was recommended by Plumbing Inspector McGonegal, who Bo- | made following a meeting at the [FePOrted to the Commissloners that a number of flues had fallen down owing to poor plaster and had revealed they simply led into the bricks in the wall and afforded no safety from gas fumes. As it now stands the regulation will require fittings to_ lead directly into the chimney of the furnace or fireplace before it is certified by the Plumbing Department. “Go by Air" To PHILADELPHIA and NORFOLK Fokker 3-engine planes lelve daily, - including Sunday, Philadelphia 8:45 A.M., 2M P.M. and 3:30 P.M. time 1% 0:15 A.M., arriving at Notldk . 12:00 Noon.
