230 ¥ AN ISSUES GAIN TIN IN STOCK MARKET Large Number Selling Ex- - Dividend and Some Make Up the Deduction. BY STUART P. W, ispatch to The Star. W YORK, September 15.—The ket continued strong today, with sactions on @ larger scale. This did not denote much of an increase lin outside interest. but it did_show more confidence on the part of pro- fessional dealers, after their experl- “ence on the short side last week, that the underlying position was xirong. A large number of stocks sold ex- dividend and a number of them made upp the deduction from the market price. Among these were Hudson Motor, Mack Trucks and Yellow ‘I'rucks. Tobacco Products sold at « new high for the year. Consolidated . Cigar, ex-dividend, was strong, and ‘udahy Packing was quite a feature. ! I'he latter is a 7 per cent stock, which juntl today was selling under par. 1t is evidently being bought on the atiractiveness of the yield. Railway shaves were strong again. ANCI1AL H Open. Bethesda's -handsome new bank building, which was thrown open to the public for the first time yesterday, was thronged with visitors from 9 o’clock in the morning until the same time at night, all expressing unstint- ed praise of the bank’'s new home. Several Washington bankers attended the opening, while scores of bankers from all over Montgomery County and elsewhere in Maryland were among those to extend congratulations. Hosts of depositors and others liv- ing in Bethesda and neighboring Washington suburbs were among the callers.
